Trade Terms-DDU(DELIVERED DUTY UNPAID)
DELIVERED DUTY UNPAID（…named place of destination）-- Unpaid delivery(the designated destination) means that the seller fulfils its obligation to deliver the goods to the designated place in the importing country where they can be collected by the buyer. The seller must bear the costs and risks of bringing the goods there(excluding customs duties, taxes and other charges charged by the authorities upon impoRTAtion, as well as customs formalities and risks). The buyer must bear the additional costs and risks arising from his failure to clear the goods in a timely manner.
If the parties wish the seller to carry out the customs formalities and to bear the costs and risks arising therefrom, a note shall be inserted to make it clear.
If the parties wish to include in the seller's obligations certain costs to be paid for the importation of the goods, such as VAT, they should add a note to this effect, such as "Duty unpaid delivery, VAT paid(... designated destination)" to make it clear.
The term is applicable to all modes of transport.
